The Cure, 25” mixed media, 2020 By Ram Mallari Jr.

 About the Artist

Before beginning his sculpting career, Mario " RAM " Mallari Jr. studied architecture and worked as a draftsman. Ram was introduced to metalsmithing at a young age, despite his poor beginnings. Mallari recognized the beauty in the multitude of recoverable, metallic forms sprouting from the stacks of scrap metal heading for trash. Mallari Jr.'s steampunk-inspired sculptures have won him international attention. Mallari has maintained his remarkable career and garnered international praise in just three years, the most recent of which is becoming a guest artist and professor at the Singapore Science Museum's art workshop. His work has been featured in a variety of television and print media outlets, including Thompson Reuters, the Washington Post, NBC News TV, BBC News, and Yahoo, to mention a few. He's also been praised by important media in the Philippines and the ASEAN

The Cure, 25” mixed media, 2020

Ram Mallari Jr., a master metal manipulator, shows off his ingenuity once more in this mixed media steampunk sculpture. Ram's The Cure is a hero for the period, with hues that, deliberately or not, remind the spectator of a specific iron superhero. After all, the globe now requires a cure, not only for the ongoing pandemic. According to Ram, “I created this artwork with the hope that everything will soon be back to normal again. Finding the cure is the greatest hope for all of us, but it is also important that each of us continue to do our part in keeping our community safe and healthy. Let us not lose hope. Researchers are working round the clock to find a solution and trials are being initiated at record speed. Sooner or later, they will find the cure. God bless us all.”

Ram's creation is truly a cure for us. As you look at his sculpture, you'll see the hard work and passion and made from the heart. In today's battle, we need to see this kind of work; it is a hope for all of us that we will get through this.
